Here at Jescar Kennels we take pride in planning each litter for the best possible quality in health, temperament, brains and beauty. All of our breeding animals are certified through OFA for Hips and Elbows. In some cases, we will elect to do Thyroid, Cardiac, and the DM test as well. In addition to OFA certification, all our canine family is registered through AKC, affirming the accuracy of the pedigrees. This information is available at www.offa.org and www.akc.org.

All our puppies are whelped and raised in the warmth of our home with lots of tender loving care. Each pup is handled several times a day and weighed to assure a healthy start. At one week old we introduce nail trimming, checking of the mouth/teeth and gently brushing to instill that human touch is a positive part of life.

Beginning at four weeks of age, each pup is individually taken to the carpeted areas of our home to explore and investigate the new world. We have found this to be very helpful in evaluating personalities on an individual basis, and in determining drive and movement.

At six weeks of age, pups are introduced to a leash and collar, car rides, puppy-size crates and human visitors. This gets the puppy accustom to some of the basic things of life. In most cases it makes for an easier transition. We at Jescar Kennels do our best at setting a positive foundation for our pups. Success is our goal!!

Our puppies NEVER leave before eight weeks of age. All puppies leave with a full health exam by a licensed vet, age-appropriate vaccines, clear of parasites and Micro Chipped. All companion dogs are sold on a limited registration, which means they are sold as non-breeding animals, and the new owners agree to spay or neuter. In the event the puppy cannot remain with the new family, Jescar needs to be notified. Under no circumstances is the pup to go to a shelter.

“Nurture ~ Structure ~ Consistency”

We are very passionate about the German Shepherd Dog, therefore, we encourage folks to do their homework on the breed. Visit a few kennels and ask lots of questions. German Shepherds require training and socialization long after they leave their birthplace. Whether it’s a “home companion” or a competitive “sports dog” training is a must! As a child comes into the world untrained so does a puppy. It’s the structure, consistency, and love that creates the bond.

In the event you are interested in one of our pups we accept puppy visitors at six weeks of age by appointment only. For the safety of our pups, we do ask that you don’t visit our kennel after visiting another kennel as many illnesses/diseases can be transferred.
